Leo T. Molloy - His "Tercentenary Pictorial and History of the Lower Naugatuck Valley", couple with Orcutt's earlier work extended Derby's written history through the early 1930s.

Samuel Orcutt - Orcutt's "The History of the Old Town of Derby, Connecticut 1642-1880" is the most comprehensive account of the early history of Derby through the year of 1882. A minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, he also compile histories of several other CT towns.

Mary L. Portis - She broke new ground on a national level when she became the first female scout executive in the United States as the Executive for the Housatonic Council, Boy Scouts of America in 1990.
