Easter Egg Hunt 2000
Even the weather could not dampen the spirit of the Easter Bunny
as he had to venture indoors to the Derby High School gym and auditorium to
visit with more than 300 children and their parents who came out for the Derby
Cultural Commission's annual Easter Egg Hunt. Originally scheduled for
Osbornedale State Park, the event was moved indoors as threatening skies and
damp grounds presented problems. However, the volunteers quickly changed pace
and place to turn the event into a rousing success. Magic was provided by Danny
Rodrigue, hotdogs were cooked by Derby Fire Commissioner Barbara DeGenerro and
members of the Derby Fire Department, and the Easter Egg Hunt
of course was provided by the Easter Bunny himself. After the Easter egg hunt
everyone was treated to MacDonald's juice courtesy of MacDonalds of Derby.
The event was organized by Linda LaRue, of the Derby Cultural Commission,
with help provided by commission members April Pruzinski, Jennifer Barriga, Fran
Tracz and chairman Randy Ritter.
