Clarksville, TN

Clarksville received their fountain from the National Humane Alliance in December, 1907. It was put into storage waiting for better weather before placing it on the Public Square where it still stands to this day thought it appears that the water is no longer flowing.

And thanks to some great research by Tony Messina, we now have this intriguing picture of the fountain in the square with elephants from the Ringling Bros. He found the photo below along with others in the Montgomery County Archives and then found the Ringling Bros. travel schedule from 1910 when they made a stop in Clarksville on October 3. Though we can't be sure that the photo is from that date, we do now know that the circus did go through Clarksville.
