The Derby High School Band and Choir returned from their Italy Tour late Sunday night. Their tour took then to Naples, the Amalfi Dirve, Pompeii, and Rome. They performed at a mass at the Vatican on Saturday.
The highlight of the tour was two days spent with the Derby sister city of Puglianello. By all accounts it was a great trip and the students had a great opportunity to sample the culture and geography of Italy. Along the way, they also had time to get acquainted with Derby's sister city of Puglianello.
Stephanie Beall celebrated her birthday in Puglianello in grand fashion. The Puglianello people treated Stephanie to a large cake and several great gifts. It was quite a surprise and it overwhelmed everyone there.
Another highlight for the group was the chance to perform live at a mass in the Vatican on Saturday night. Take a look at the sophisticated group on the left!
Music Director Brandt Schneider reports that everyone had a great time, and he is preparing a full story with more pictures on the DHS Music Department's web site. We have some "tease" pictures here, but be sure to check out the high school site for many more pictures and the inside story on the trip. Click here to visit the site.
How many coins is that? Just enough to give hope for another trip to Italy in the future!
