Third Annual Witek Park Fishing Derby

Hosted by The City of Derby

Where: Witek Park, lower reservoir (Academy Hill Rd., Derby)

When: April 25, 2009 (rain or shine—No rain date)

 

Onsite check-in from 7 to 8:00am in the memorial area of the Park

Contest starts at 8:00am and ends at 10:30 am Lunch and prizes from 10:30 on

This is a free Trout Derby and is only open to Derby children ages 15 and under 

Any Derby resident 16 and over must have a valid CT State fishing license to fish after 10:30 am 

 

To enter Trout Derby, each contestant must be a City of Derby resident

 

Onsite check in will be held at the Witek Park Memorial area from 7am-8:00am the morning of the contest

 

All contestants should pre-register and check in the morning of

 

Fishing and keeping trout will be open to all Derby residents regardless of age AFTER 10:30am, proper CT state licensing requirements apply, 5 fish limit per person

 

Every 2 children must be accompanied by at least 1 adult guardian

 

Each contestant must supply own fishing pole, tackle and bait, if you need a fishing setup, please call Kevin at 203-410-4548 before the derby in order to make arrangements to have one provided to you

 

No fishing license is required for ages 15 and under to fish in the derby

 

All trout can be taken home, please supply own container. Please release any other species.

 

Awards will be given to contestants with the 3 heaviest trout weighed in.

 

Each registered contestant will receive, at check in, a numbered raffle ticket that will be used for a prize drawing at the end of the contest

 

Non resident adult guardians will be allowed to accompany resident children but will not be allowed to fish

 

All fish must be caught by hook and line

 

Fishing will not be allowed on the wall or spillway area. Anyone fishing from these areas will be asked to leave the contest

 

Ample parking is available in the soccer field parking lots. Please do not park along the long driveway entrance.

 

Free hot dogs, soda and water will be available at the close of the derby
