Unusual sighting along
O'Sullivan's Island!

It certainly doesn't compare to the Loch Ness monster,
but there have been some unusual sightings in the lagoon along
O'Sullivan's Island of late. Dave Purcell decided to take a stroll along
the Derby Greenway on a foggy day a week ago. When reaching the tip of
Hog's Island, he ran into a somber fishermen who noted that, "Ain't no
use in fishing here with that around," and pointed to a harbour seal
swimming playfully in the lagoon and competing with the fisherman for
the catch of the day!
We want to thank Dave for sharing his story and pictures
with us as this is the first sighting of a harbour seal in a long, long
time. For some other animal life along the Greenway,
