Boat Ram, Fishing Pier & Trails Proposed for O'Sullivan's Island

The city's proposal to enhance O’Sullivan’s Peninsula in Derby has made it to the final round of review by the Housatonic Restoration CT SubCouncil.  The project would receive grant funding of $325,000 from the Housatonic Restoration Basin Natural Resources Restoration Project for the following:

  • install a fishing pier for disabled persons
  • modify the boat ramp
  • install a swale to capture non-point source runoff from the parking lot
  • install a walkway of porous pavers
  • restore the riverbank by removing non-native species and replanting while creating fishing coves
