New Route 8 Signs Proclaim All America Valley

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is the latest to recognize the Valley's All America City status with new gateway signs on Rt. 8 at the north and south entry points to the Valley. In a brief ceremony hosted by State Senator Joe Crisco, the large sign was unveiled to the cheers of a small group of All America city supporters standing on Rt. 8 under cold and dreary skies.

Brief remarks were made by two other members of the Valley's legislative delegation - Dick Belden and Len Greene as well as Derby Mayor Marc Garofalo and Naugatuck Mayor Joan Taff. They emphasized that the signs will be viewed by approximately 115,000 motorists each day and will help visitors to the Valley to recognize the achievements and vitality of the community.

All America committee chair Bill Powanda thanked the legislative delegation and the Department of Transportation for making the new signs possible.
