Convention & Visitors Bureau Highlights Valley Effort

The Greater New Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau, which was a very active participant in the Valley's winning All America City effort, wasted no time in assisting with the marketing effort. The Summer 2000 edition of their newsletter, DESTINATION GREATER NEW HAVEN, features a front page story on the Valley's effort and what it can mean for the future.

At its annual meeting held on June 21 at Lighthouse Point in New Haven, they also displayed a new All America City banner congratulating the Valley on its award. Following the meeting, Karolyn Kirchgesler presented the banner to United Way Executive Director Jack Walsh for use in the Valley. Jack was quick to put it to use at the Olde Derby Day celebration of Derby's 325th birthday.  He pointed out that the CVB played a prominent role in the Valley's effort providing staff support for this year's effort as well as last year. Both Kirchgesler and Pam Gervais made the trip to Louisville as part of the delegation, and Renny Loisel has served as an advisor to the committee as well.
