Derby has a variety of public facilities that provide numerous recreational opportunities for Derby residents. They include: (Click on links for pictures and more information.)
Location | Description |
| Derby Greenway | The Greenway extends from Division Street to Main Street and links three cities, two rivers and six bridges. It provides a very scenic and tranquil opportunity for a healthy walk, jog, bike ride or roller blade trip. The length is 1.7 miles. |
| Shelton-Derby Skate Park | A collaborative effort between the neighboring cities of Derby and Shelton, the park is located under the Commodore Hull Bridge in Shelton. |
| Witek Memorial Park | This former reservoir offers open space and scenic beauty along its trails and two lakes - and now the city's new soccer fields as well. Pay a visit now to enjoy its unspoiled beauty. Click here for a map to locate Witek Park. |
| Derby Veterans Community Center | The Derby Veterans Community Center located in Derby City Hall on Fifth Street in Derby is a full featured Health & Fitness Center partially subsidized by the City. It includes a pool, gymnasium and fitness center. For further information about the Center's programs, hours, and fees, contact the center at 735-4222. |
| Osbornedale State Park | This is a Connecticut State Park located on Chatfield Street in Derby. The facility contains open space for hiking and walking, numerous pavilions and picnic sites, a pond which can be used for fishing and ice skating during the winter, and ample parking. | Kellogg Environmental Center | The Kellogg Environmental Center is a $1.2 million natural science and environmental educational facility operated by the Bureau of Parks and Recreation of the CT Department of Environmental Protection. |
| Osborne Homestead Museum | Adjacent to the rolling hills and open meadows of Osbornedale State Park, the Osborne Homestead Museum encompasses the house and grounds of the former Frances Osborne Kellogg Estate. |
| Little League | The Ken Marcucio, Sr. Little League and Youth Sports Complex includes Uluski Field as well as a minor league field and a smaller t-ball facility. |
| Derby Green | A scenic and historic site located in the center of town. Completely renovated in 1999, it is a fine example of a traditional New England town green. |
| Founders Common | Before there was a Derby Green, there was a Founders Commons in the area of the original settlement of Derby. |
| Recreation Camp, Inc. | The Recreation Camp is a summer camp on the banks of the Housatonic River that provides swimming, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, arts & rec and much more. It is open to the public, but is not part of the City's program. |
| Derby Dam Fishing | A site just below the Ousatonic Dam on Roosevelt Drive in Derby provides a scenic site for fishermen. |
| Picnics & Outings | The city maintains a Picnic Grove for public use.
In order to rent the Picnic Grove, residents must call the mayor's
office.The fee for the use of the facility is: Derby residents is $400.00 and $100.00 of that is refundable Non-Derby Residents is $500.00 $100.00 of that is refundable. |
| Irving School Playground | Irving School Playground serves children on the west side of town. |
| Bradley School Playground | Bradley School Playground serves children on the east side of town. |

| O'Sullivan's Island Fishing | A tip of land separating the Naugatuck and Housatonic Rivers popular with fishermen. Click here to watch video of ice fishing on the island. |
| Jogging & Walking | The track at the Ryan Athletic Complex is a popular site for walking and jogging at virtually all hours of the day. The trails through Osbornedale Park are also popular for hiking and walking. The Derby Greenway provides a spectacular location along the Naugatuck & Housatonic rivers for walking, jogging and much more. There are also trails within Witek Park. |
