Bird Watching (and other wildlife!) on the Greenway

Birds & Bats get new "houses"!

In addition to the usual activities you would expect to find on a Greenway, one of the extra benefits of Derby's Greenway is the wide variety of birds spotted flying above and below by users. We are indebted to Maria Stochmal of Derby who developed the following list with additional species reported by Vic Walton of Ansonia.

We want to thank Ross Allen for these additional pictures of the birds of the Greenway. Click on each one to see a larger picture.

We also want to thank JoAnna Lucas who updated us with sightings of the following birds not previously noted: Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Bluebird, Golden Eye Diving Duck, Red Shouldered Hawk. Falcons have also been spotted along with the American Coot and the American Bald Eagle.
